An ethusiastic group of 16 volunteers met for the first working bee of 2017 and removed woody weeds (mirror bush, sweet pittosporum and pine tree seedlings) from areas around the Wonthaggi Surf Life Saving Club where indigenous trees and shrubs had previously been planted.

The smaller seedlings were hand pulled whereas the larger ones needed to be cut and poisoned.
Sea spurge seedlings were also removed from the dunes to the east of the WSLC clubhouse through to the end of Undertow Bay. Our sea spurge removal project has been very successful in this area. Six large bags of litter were also collected during the morning and sorted into recyclables and rubbish.
