Tent Town Project

Tent Town Project Progress

Thanks to solid community support, the Tent Town project has completed its first objective - being to revegetate the site by planting and direct seeding using, as far as possible, appropriate indigenous vegetation (pre 1750 EVC’s).

The completion of the project now just requires ParksVic to finish the building of walking tracks and information shelter.

This has been a significant collaboration between the Community, Bass Coast Shire Council and ParksVic that will result in the recognition of the historical significance of the site with information shelter panels and plaques, as well as extensions of existing historical precinct walking tracks and car parking.

It will provide improved habitat for local flora and fauna and  a recreation area for locals, visitors and school excursions, with information and recognition of the site’s historical significance to Wonthaggi.

The pictures below show the site at the start of the project in May this year and as it appeared at the end of October ... after another good dose of rain ...
