Poorneet Tadpole Season [Sep-Oct]

Temperatures are rising but the rain continues. Pied Currawongs call loudly and often.

Flax-lilies are flowering.

The flowering of plants such as Myrnong, (Yam Daisy), indicates the tubers are ready for eating.

Bulen-bulen (Superb Lyrebird) males have finished displaying.

Days and nights are of equal length.

Friends of Wonthaggi Heathland & Coastal Reserve Inc

TT openingOpening of the Tent Town Project siteThe group monitors the flora and fauna of local reserves and parks, keeping a watching brief on public land and biodiversity of the Wonthaggi area.

At the Wonthaggi Heathland, Friends weed and replant areas and assist students with their ecological studies.

Through a major project, Friends have extended the Heathland area into the Rifle Range Wetland, to link the coast with the town.

Currently the group has just completed a major project to revegetate the Tent Town site in Wonthaggi.
